FASHION DESIGN AWARDS INDIA – JEWELLERY DESIGNING
Jury
The jury comprises the eminent and highly experienced members of the fashion fraternity with international acclaim. They will be involved at each stage of the screening process.
Eligibility for Participation
- Participant must be a student of the current academic year 2013-14 of any institution.
- Participation has to be on individual basis
- Group applications are not permitted.
- Freelance designers and entrepreneurs cannot participate.
Themes: Jewellery Designing
- Bridal Necklace Set – The Precious Moments
The design should be a blend of traditional motifs and techniques, for example, enameling etc. The piece should be an expression of the individual’s creativity filtered through antiquity. Assortment of precious or semi - precious metals and gemstones in design can accentuate it by using a maximum of 15 cts diamonds.
- Formal Wear Jewellery- Style and Elegance
The design should comprise of a pendant, earrings & a ring by innovatively using diamonds with precious/semi precious stones. It should reflect the new age jewellery showcasing traditional techniques. Use of maximum of 5 cts diamonds is permitted. However the focus should be on creative usage of diamonds amongst coloured stones to create an eclectic appeal. The candidate is free to use other materials like bakelite, resin, wood, leather, yarn, etc.
Rules and Regulations
- The candidate can participate by choosing only one theme from among the above mentioned two themes.
- Each candidate has to send 3 drawings of the selected theme on A3 size sheets.
- The design should be new and original.
- All drawings must be mounted or framed or presented in a professional way.
- Name, e-mail, phone number or identification mark of the candidate should not be mentioned on the drawings. If found the candidate will be disqualified.
- Designs must not include any materials from endangered species.
- The shortlisted participant is allowed to get the manufacturing of their design sponsored.
- The organisers will provide each participant with a design number.
- Once the drawings have been selected, the candidates have to submit the application form duly attested by the head of the institution through post to The IIS University. The candidate also has to send the scanned copy of the filled application form at fdai@iisuniv.ac.in
Selection Criteria
Selection will be based on:
- Coherence with the theme
- Creativity and originality of design
- Practicality, wearability and commercial viability.
- Strength of the concept and inspiration behind the design
- Overall appearance
The Selection Process
An elaborate seven - fold screening process will be followed in order to ensure that the best entries reach to the finals.
STAGE - I
Phase 1 – Inviting drawings.
The candidate has to send 3 drawings based on any one selected theme (all the three drawings should be of the same theme)
Phase 2 – Screening of drawings by the jury.
The drawings will be sent to the jury for screening on the given judgment criteria.
Phase 3 – Short listing of the drawings.
The best among the three drawings will be short listed and the candidates will be notified through e-mails.
The shortlisted candidates have to qualify the following phases:
STAGE - II
Phase 1 – Submission of hard copy and soft copy of the application form.
Once short listed, the participant has to send the hard copy of the application form by post and a scanned copy of the same.
* Kindly Note: No changes can be made to the above details in the later stages of the competition.
Phase 2 – Submission of photograph of the work-in-progress.
The participant also has to send a photograph of the work-in-progress. The photograph should clearly showcase the construction details of the jewellery.
Phase 3 – Submission of the final photograph of the jewellery by the specified date.
Phase 4 – Grand Finale – The Final Competition
Space will be provided for display of the jewellery for the final judgment.
