 FASHION DESIGN AWARDS INDIA - FASHION DESIGNING

Jury

The jury comprises the eminent and highly experienced members of the fashion fraternity with international acclaim. They will be involved at each stage of the screening process.

Eligibility for Participation

  • Participant must be a student of the current academic year 2013-14 of any institution.
  • Participation has to be on individual basis
  • Group applications are not permitted.
  • Freelance designers and entrepreneurs cannot participate.

Themes: Fashion Designing

  • Beauty of Life

Life is full of beauty. Moving wind, blooming flowers, seasons, a child or a smiling face, anything can add beauty to our lives. The beautiful journey called ‘Life’ is a tapestry of different shades and moods. Life is a dream…a challenge…an adventure…So one should live it to the fullest!

 

  • Futuristic Contour

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Explore the future with your creative designs. Showcase the unconventional styles and techniques and create your own playground!

 

  • The Aura of Vintage

Bring forth the modern adaptations of the glamourous and fashionable bygone era. Clothes inspired by the 1960s, 70s, 80s, and 90s and the evergreen trends can be showcased in this theme.

 

Rules and Regulations

  • The candidates can participate by choosing only one theme from the above mentioned three themes.
  • Each candidate has to send 3 sketches of the selected theme with front and back view in proper croquie of 12.5” on A3 size sheets.
  • The designs should be new and original.
  • Name, e-mail and phone number of the candidate should not be mentioned on the sketches. If found, the candidate will be disqualified.
  • The organisers will provide each participant with a design number which the models will carry on the ramp as well.
  • Once the sketches have been selected, the candidates have to submit the application form duly attested by the head of the institution through post to The IIS University. The candidate also has to send the scanned copy of the filled application form at fdai@iisuniv.ac.in

 

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on:

  • Coherence with the theme
  • Strength of the concept and inspiration behind the design
  • Creativity and originality of design
  • Overall appearance

The Selection Process

An elaborate seven - fold screening process will be followed in order to ensure that the best entries reach to the finals.

STAGE - I

Phase 1 – Inviting sketches.

The candidate has to send 3 sketches based on any one selected theme (all the three sketches should be of the same theme)

 

Phase 2 – Screening of sketches by the jury.

The sketches will be sent to the jury for screening on the given judgment criteria.

 

Phase 3 – Short listing of the sketches.

The best among the three sketches will be short listed and the list of the short listed candidates will be notified through e-mails.

 

The shortlisted candidates have to qualify the following phases:

 

STAGE - II

Phase 1– Submission of hard copy and soft copy of the application form.

Once short listed, the participant has to send the hard copy of the application form by post and a scanned copy of the same along with the following details of the worksheet.

  • Fabric swatches
  • Flat working sketch specifying the construction details
  • Accessories to be worn
  • Surface ornamentation, if any

 

* Kindly Note: No changes can be made to the above details in the later stages of the competition.

 

Phase 2 – Submission of photograph of the work-in-progress and write-up on the garment.

After selection of the sketch, the participant will be given the standard measurements from The IIS University to prepare the garment. The participant has to send a write-up on the garment including the inspiration and the highlights. The participant also has to send a photograph of the work-in-progress. The photograph should clearly showcase the construction details of the garment.

 

Phase 3 – Submission of the final photograph of the garment and accessories by the specified date.

Phase 4 – Grand Finale – The Final Competition

Initially, the models will display the designs. In the final round, the semi-finalists will walk the ramp with the models.
